If you want to transform any area of your life, there are just 3 simple steps that will help get you there.

Imagine you were about to take a journey and you were planning it the old-fashioned way using paper maps.

First, you’d need to know where you are starting from and where you want to go. You’d also need to know your mode of transportation… car, plane, foot, donkey?

Next, you’d need to create a plan for your journey. You’d need the right map… it’s no use having a map of Germany if you want to travel from New York to Los Angeles.

Lastly, you would want to figure out how to optimize your journey to meet your needs. E.g. you might want to travel from NY to LA as quickly as possible, or journey via Chicago to pick up your Aunt Gertrude, or you might want to do a lot of sightseeing along the way.

It’s similar when it comes to planning any personal transformation.

The first step is to figure out where you are now. You’d want to know things like what your life is like (what do you love, what do you hate?), who you are as a human being and what really matters to you. Next, you want to figure out how you want your life to be, ideally yet realistically.

The second step is to create a strategic plan for change. This plan needs to be specific to you… what works for me, may not work for you or the next person. The plan needs to be specific and clear.

The third and final step is to optimize your journey. Things like how to manage your energetic state, to focus your attention, to break old habits, to overcome fear, or to be resilient when there are challenges.

Now I mentioned these steps were simple, but they are not easy. It can be difficult to accurately understand where you are now and to create a vision of where you want to go. Many people are plodding through life running old scripts that no longer serve them. Developing a plan that will work for you can also be challenging if it were obvious you’d already be living the life you want to live. You are not a robot and you do not live in a vacuum. You are most likely not perfect and do not achieve everything you set out to achieve… oh and life is unpredictable and bad things happen to good people.

You may be able to follow these steps alone, but it may take a long time to get to where you want to get to. Working with a coach… a guide, who’s helped other people on similar journeys can help speed up and ease your journey. There are no guarantees in life, but with a coach (the right coach for you) you can dramatically improve your odds of success.
