The new week is filled with new hope and new opportunities, but there may be a recurrence of some old challenges and maybe some new challenges you’ll have to face.

As I sat to write this week’s blog I reflected on some experiences from last week. Saying goodbye to a friend, gone way too early… other friends suffering from illness… clients facing an existential crisis and I realized, this week I needed to be very authentic.

Many people in the personal development world are Poly-Anna-ish… “you’re awesome”, “this will be your best week ever”, “you can achieve whatever you want”, “you’re only given challenges you can cope with”.

I’m sorry that’s not me, I call BS on that toxic positivity. At 52 I’ve been through some challenges and seen bad things happen to really good people, through no fault of their own. Sometimes life is cruel and tough. Sometimes you are given a challenge that you are not equipped to deal with, it’s hard to cope and you suffer.

What I have learned is that…

  • sometimes we need to ask for support and accept help when it’s offered, it’s a sign of strength…
  • humans are resilient creatures and you can learn to become more resilient…
  • it’s better to have a plan, than no plan, even if you go off plan and end up with a totally different outcome…
  • and last thought for now…life is short and precious, seize the opportunities, take chances, do the things, enjoy the journey.

I hope it is a great week ahead. If it’s not… that’s ok too. If you need support, please know I am here to help.
